No More Dull Gray or Boring Beige – All the Chicest Moodboards Feature Gwyneth Paltrow's Subtly Luxe Living Room Palette

Gwyneth Paltrow at the oscars.

Subtle interior palettes have been dominated by gray, beige, and even off-whites in recent years, but Gwyneth Paltrow's Montecito home shows us that a muted scheme doesn't have to mean flat or boring. She combines blush pink chairs with marble furnishings and gold accents in her luxe living room, for a chic, elegant space that feels calm and considered.

Believed to be some of the colors for quiet luxury, soft pink feels like a fresh upgrade on beige while marble adds textural interest to gray-toned surfaces thanks to its natural veining, and gold acts as a metallic accent to elevate the look. It's a beautiful combination, which incorporates color, texture, and material, brought together with some stand-out pieces by interior designer Brigette Romanek. From the striking marble bar to the sculptural chairs and statement lighting, each detail leans into this palette.

I've spoken to design experts for their input and compiled an edit of blush, marble, and gold pieces to style your living room with and get Gwyneth's look, from a gold bar tray (Saks) to a pair of sculptural pink chairs (Wayfair).

The Marble, Blush and Gold Edit

Gwyneth Paltrow's living room is a lesson in how to decorate with a muted color scheme. It's subtle and calming, yet so effortlessly chic. Of course, the stand-out feature is that incredible marble bar, but thanks to the clever palette used in the space, it blends, rather than interrupts, the look, while subtle lighting casts a beautiful pinkish glow.

Michelle Waugh, Founder and Principal at Michelle Waugh Interiors, says: 'Marble, blush, and gold is one of my favorite color and materiality palettes as it brings contrast but just enough softness to elevate a living room without trying too hard.' That's exactly the vibe that Gwyneth's living room is giving – a subtle elegance that is both immediately evident and seen more deeply in the design, the closer you look.

It may well be considered one of the neutral palettes that always work, whilst being an elegant upgrade on gray, beige and off-white or even brown schemes. 'The warmth of the blush paired with the brightness of the gold and the weight and permanence of the marble creates the perfect tension for a living room,' explains Michelle.

We love the way that texture is used to achieve this as well, from the smoothness of the marble, to the shine of the gold surfaces on the coffee table, bar accessories, and mirror, and the soft suede-like finish of the blush pink Etcetera chairs. This is layered in with glass orbs in the stunning Lindsey Adelman lighting, the natural wood of the sculptural stool, and a textural rug.

The other color not yet mentioned here, which is actually fairly central to this whole scheme, is black. The architectural detail of the striking black fireplace has been cleverly reflected in various touchpoints throughout Gwyneth Paltrow's space, from the black-framed French doors to the black marble side table, the graphic artwork, and even the designer chandelier, which features a draped black cord. This creates some welcome pockets of interest amid an otherwise tonally similar scheme.

Michelle concludes that this elegant and elevated palette 'brings a quiet luxury to the space with impactful style while remaining grounded and comfortable.'

It's all in the balance with Gwyneth Paltrow's palette, where color, texture, and material all work together in the most harmonious way. Discover more luxury living room ideas that will bring a chic twist to your space.
