"No more cuts": Residents pack into meeting on future of Vale of Leven Hospital

Residents packed out a public meeting held to discuss the future of hospital services in West Dunbartonshire.

More than 100 people flocked to the Concord Centre on Tuesday evening, which was organised by Jackie Bailile MSP and campaign group Hospitalwatch.

The meeting was held to help form part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s consultation process on their service change programme Moving Forward Together.

Members of the public shared their views on how hospital services should be shaped, with the resounding message that no more cuts will be accepted.

Jackie Baillie MSP said: "There are 31 different areas that are being reviewed.

Dumbarton town centre road to remain closed into next month

"NHSGGC set up a working group for each of these. What the health board are trying to tell us is that they have a blank sheet of paper and they want your views.

"If you think for a minute that these consultants have been locked away for a year doing nothing then please think again.

"Let's write on that blank sheet and tell them what we want."

Another meeting will take  at Helensburgh Parish Church on Thursday, April 11 at 7pm.

Jackie added: “Given the potential impact that these changes will have on patients in our local community it is so important that as many people as possible have a say in shaping how our health services will be provided."
