No more boozing, noise or late night brawls... why going inside this horrendous flat could land you in prison

A flat that was a 'magnet for the worst kind of antisocial behaviour' has been cleared out and boarded up.

Residents on Moston Lane in Moston were subjected to months of misery at the hands of those who stayed and visited the property.

Late night boozing, unbearable noise and fighting blighted people's lives.

It became a hot spot for trouble.

On Friday, Manchester council and GMP were granted an anti-social behaviour closure order by a court.

It bans anyone from going inside.

The flat will be boarded up for three months.

Ignoring the order is a crime.

Anyone who does flout the rules could end up doing six months in prison; being lumbered with a hefty - unlimited - fine; or both.

Coun Nigel Murphy, deputy leader of Manchester council, said: "This flat was a magnet for the worst kinds of antisocial behaviour.

"No one should have to tolerate their neighbourhood being turned into a hot spot for troublemaking, excessive noise and violence.

"People have the right to enjoy their communities and not have a shadow cast over their lives by a selfish few, and we will use every tool at our disposal to punish offenders.

"Praise must also go to local residents and ward councillors who worked with us get this order in place.

"They had had enough and we would not have been able to take this positive action without the evidence they helped us gather."
