AHMEDABAD: The Vatva GIDC police has arrested one Laxmansingh Premlalsingh a resident of Jharkand who was involved in the murder of his friend Umesh Raikwar, a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
Raikwar was murdered after he refused to give money to Laxmansingh for eating non-vegetarian food.
P G Jadeja, the assistant commissioner of police, J division on Saturday said: "on December 27, an unidentified person was found dead near the railway track in Vatva area. The cops had registered a case of accidental death and began an operation to identify the unidentified person. Three teams were formed and during the search the teams began looking for CCTV footages. In one of the footages, they identified Raikwar along with two other persons."
He said that using their sources they found that the person who had died was Raikwar and the other two were identified as Brijalalsingh Chattisingh and the accused Laxmansingh.
The cops then went to the resident of Brijalalsingh and during interrogation they were informed that laxmansingh has murdered Raikwar. Laxmansingh had left for his hometown Jharkhand. ND Nakum, the police inspector of Vatva GIDC immediately kept the phone on surveillance and found that he was at the Kalupur Railway station.
"A team was sent to Kalupur station and Laxmansingh was arrested and also remanded in police custody for two days.
During interrogation, he informed the cops that Raikwar was murdered as he had refused to give him money to eat non-vegetarian food. "Raikwar was attacked with bricks and was badly injured as a result he died on the spot," said police inspector ND Nakum.
