Passengers are facing a whole weekend of Metro disruption.
No trains will be running between South Gosforth and Heworth while work takes place on the overhead line.
A replacement bus will be running in the affected area on both Saturday and Sunday.
A spokesperson for Nexus said: "On Saturday 24 November and Sunday 25 November no trains will run between South Gosforth and Heworth to allow for renewal of the overhead line - part of which is over the QEII bridge - vegetation clearance work and track replacement in the tunnels underneath Newcastle city centre.
"During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations Regent Centre - Heworth.
"Your journey will take longer so please check train times and leave extra time for travel."
