Barry Ferguson has revealed he’s yet to meet incoming Rangers sporting director Kevin Thelwell — but expects crunch talks to take place soon as the club prepares for a pivotal summer.
Thelwell, who joins from Everton, is set to play a major role in shaping the future of the Ibrox side, both on and off the pitch, as the prospective new ownership eyes a shake-up at every level.
Ferguson, who stepped in as interim boss following the departure of Philippe Clement in February, remains in the hot seat until the summer, with uncertainty swirling over his long-term role.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren, Ferguson confirmed no formal meeting has taken place with Thelwell at this stage — although it’s firmly on the agenda.

“No, I've not, but I will,” Ferguson said. “We’ve not got an exact day, that's going to be scheduled in. But I'll certainly be sitting down and banging heads together I suppose.”
Ferguson, a club legend and former captain, admitted he’s unsure what influence — if any — he’ll retain once the new structure is fully in place, but insisted he’ll be honest and open when that discussion does happen.
Thelwell’s arrival comes at a time of significant flux for the Glasgow giants, with questions over squad rebuilding, recruitment strategy, and the managerial position all in the spotlight.
“I don't know,” Ferguson said when asked about his role going forward. “I said I will have a meeting, I don't know when that is, but when we sit down I'll be honest, and I'll be clear.
“But it's good, he's an experienced guy, he's been about a lot of clubs, a lot of big clubs as well, so I think it was an appointment that was needed. I think the club, I don't know him personally, but looking at his background it looks to me that it's a very good appointment.
“I want what's best for Rangers Football Club, and you need to be open and honest about that, and that's the way I'm working."
