No mass jabs today due to vaccine shortage across Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: On July 19 and July 22, a total of 8 lakh vaccine doses will be administered at the rate of 4 lakh vaccine doses on each of these days. But on July 17, there would be no mass vaccination across the state. On Saturdays, mass vaccination is usually carried out but due to unavailability of vaccine, districts have been instructed to carry out vaccination as per the stock available in the respective districts, said sources.

Sources from the health department said, as Covid-19 vaccination process has completed exactly six months on July 16— a half yearly review would be carried out, soon. In the last six months, more than 2.5 crore vaccine doses have been administered, now the condition of each and every district is being reviewed and further course of action would be decided on the basis of the outcome. The patches where there is less vaccination need to be identified now and more vaccination is required in those areas, said sources. This has to be done so that if there is any third wave, the effects could be minimised by ensuring even vaccination in the entire state, added sources.

In the instructions issued to the districts for Covid-19 vaccination on July 19 and July 22, it has been instructed that the number of sites should be limited at district headquarters and under civic body limits, and vaccination should be conducted on the basis of pre-booking of slots on cowin app.

After 4pm, if vaccine doses are available and people are present at the site, then token should be provided and remaining vaccines should be administered as per on site registration. In the last two days, 7.7 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the state, on Friday, however, only around 2400 vaccine doses were administered.
