No, Manchester City did not drop the Premier League trophy after victory parade

A video has surfaced online appearing to show Manchester City players looking over a balcony at a smashed Premier League trophy.

City tonight took to the streets of Manchester to celebrate an historic season that saw them win the domestic treble as well as the Community Shield and the Women's domestic cup double.

Thousands of fans turned out in Manchester to celebrate the achievement with players and the management team taking to a stage on Deansgate to reflect on the season and look ahead.

There was also a touching speech from outgoing captain Vincent Kompany , who hailed City as the best club in the world and thanked fans for their support over the last 11 years.

Along the parade route, City players were in good spirits, taking videos, interacting with fans, and even drinking out of the Carabao Cup.

And after the fireworks and confetti had settled and fans headed home, a video soon appeared on Twitter appearing to show a broken trophy on the floor below a balcony with Sergio Aguero looking sheepish.

Fans of rival clubs immediately joked about the incident, believing the video to be genuinely showing the Premier League trophy smashed on the floor at City's training ground.

But the clip turned out to be a prank by City TV, and the trophy was seen fully intact during the parade on Monday evening.

The prank came after left-back Oleks Zinchenko knocked the trophy over during last season's victory parade.
