TALLAHASSEE, Fla. _ It didn't take long for the Florida State football team to put Saturday's game out of reach.
But there surely were some miscues Jimbo Fisher will let his young team know about heading into a top-15 matchup against Louisville next week.
Deondre Francois completed 25 of 32 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns in his Doak Campbell Stadium debut, and Dalvin Cook added two rushing touchdowns to lead No. 3 FSU to a 52-8 victory over Charleston Southern.
Francois connected with receiver Travis Rudolph for touchdown passes of 36 and 21 yards, while receiver Bobo Wilson added an 89-yard punt return for a touchdown _ all in the first quarter.
Francois' last pass in the game was a 1-yard fade to the corner of the end zone caught by sophomore Auden Tate, his first career touchdown catch.
Jacques Patrick added five carries for 26 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Freshman Ricky Aguayo added a 46-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
Francois' performance in the second quarter was slightly spoiled by an interception thrown to CSU linebacker Seth Harrelson intended for Rudolph. He also held on to the football too long on a play that resulted in a sack for a loss of six yards, and FSU's first punt of the game.
J.J. Cosentino, in his first series after replacing Francois in the fourth quarter, was tackled in the end zone for a safety.
The Seminoles allowed one touchdown during the game on a busted coverage by Derwin James that resulted in a wide-open, 57-yard pass down the right sideline.
James, senior cornerback Marquez White, senior defensive end DeMarcus Walker and defensive coordinator Charles Kelly were all visibly upset after the play.
But the Seminoles defense may have a bigger issue on its hands after James left the game in the third quarter with a left knee injury.
Florida State will open its Atlantic Coast Conference slate against No. 13 Louisville at Papa John's Stadium next Saturday.
