• According to Bill Murray’s book Mountaineering in Scotland, the Inaccessible Pinnacle (Country Diary, 11 October) is “a knife-edged ridge, with an overhanging and infinite drop on one side, and a drop even steeper and longer on the other”. Some climbers prefer this not to be quoted to them when they are partway up.
