No hiring for years, brace for NOTA: Madhya Pradesh job aspirants to govt

INDORE: Amid hotly contested local polls - the semi-finals ahead of the 2023 assembly election - thousands of youngsters of employable age have launched a Twitter campaign to protest the delay in PSC and other recruitments in Madhya Pradesh.

The campaign, carried out under National Educated Youth Union (NEYU), garnered over 1 lakh tweets within a day of launch. Tens of thousands of job aspirants have threatened to vote 'NOTA' in ongoing the urban body polls.

An MPPSC aspirant, Akash Pathak, said, "The MP Public Service Commission isn't proceeding with PSC-2019 examination despite interim orders from MP high court, fixing OBC reservation at 14% for the exam." It's still "underway" for almost two and half years and the commission is required to release revised pre-results in accordance with HC's interim orders, added Pathak. The commission has failed to complete recruitment examinations for other departments and posts since 2018, Pathak said.

In an interim order in April this year, MP high court had declared results of PSC-2019 mains examination ultra vires because of 27% OBC reservation and asked the commission to prepare a revised pre-result with 14% OBC reservation. Since then, there has been no progress, say the aspirants. The commission, meanwhile, is going ahead with PSC-2020 mains and 2021 pre-examinations.

Madhur Parashar, who appeared in the 2019 and 2020 PSC mains and is now preparing for 2021, told TOI, "Since 2018, there is no recruitment drive in major departments like police, teacher, PSC, and others because of the OBC reservation issue and roster system. This is costing the youth of M,000 to 30,000 jobs annually.

'Recruitment delay causing anxiety, drain of finances'

Sandeep Pandey, who is preparing for competitive examinations, said, “The delay in recruitment is causing anxiety, loss of time, draining families of finances and achieving nothing. Youngsters are in a terrible dilemma.

What to do in such an uncertain situation?” MPPSC OSD R Panchbhai told TOI, “The commission moved high court, seeking permission to declare PSC-2019 results with 40% UR reservation and 27% OBC reservation — that is maximum for both categories — to continue with process, which would be subject to the court’s final order in this respect. The court denied permission.”
