No further coronavirus deaths recorded at Merseyside hospitals this weekend

Merseyside's hospitals went another weekend without recording any new coronavirus deaths, according to the latest figures released by NHS England.

The figures, which collate new coronavirus deaths in hospitals in England, show that hospitals in our regions did not record an increase in deaths from Covid-19 on either Saturday or Sunday.

The news comes after Thursday saw three new coronavirus deaths in Liverpool's hospitals after a long run of no deaths from the virus.

Thursday's figures also saw one further death in the wider region, at Halton and Warrington NHS Trust.

Across the country, five new coronavirus deaths in all settings (not just hospitals) were recorded on Sunday.

One death was recorded in North West hospitals - at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
