No further coronavirus deaths at Merseyside hospitals as cases continue to rise across country

No further coronavirus deaths were recorded at hospitals in Merseyside, according to the latest figures.

The data from NHS England shows that hospitals in our region recorded no new deaths related to Covid-19 on Wednesday.

Although deaths from coronavirus have continued to decline on Merseyside, the number of new cases has been slowly rising.

According to the latest figures Sefton now has the highest highest infection rate on Merseyside, after cases more than doubled in the borough last week.

Last week saw 162 new coronavirus cases across the Liverpool City Region, slightly up from 152 the previous week.

Meanwhile, worrying data from Public Health England showed 15 hotspots across the country where coronavius infection rates are on the rise.

They include Manchester and Salford, Birmingham and Blackburn with Darwen.

NHS England releases figures each day which show the number of coronavirus deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24 hours.

The deaths are where the person has tested positive for Covid-19 or where it was mentioned on their death certificate, meaning it was either the primary cause of death or a contributing factor.

The figures do not include deaths in care homes or other community settings.
