Newcastle United are yet to receive any fresh contact from Serie A side Udinese on Matty Longstaff.
The Italian side were keen on the 21-year-old last summer and discussed the possibility of signing him as a free agent before 11th-hour contract talks between the Academy product's parents, agent and Steve Bruce at the head coach's house resulted in him agreeing on a two-year deal.
Those at Newcastle are believed to be mystified by reports in Italy of a new approach.

Udinese are also restricted to signing just one non-EU player per season due to a change in rules caused by Brexit meaning they will have to manage their squad carefully this summer.
Udinese finished the season in 14th place last term and when approached for comment by Chronicle Live, their director of football Pierpaolo Marino did not respond.
Last season didn't really go to plan for either party as Longstaff appeared just five times in all competitions and despite assurances of regular game-time, the former North Shields Athletic junior barely featured and ended the campaign in the Under-23 squad.
Longstaff excelled in the Under-23 side in 2018/19 helping the youngsters reach the play-off final and Premier League Cup final as well as helping plot a route to the last 16 of the Checkatrade Trophy, beating some strong EFL sides along the way.
He was due to go to Bradford City on loan in 2019/20 but Bruce halted the loan and made him part of his first-team squad, handing him his first Premier League start when he scored the winner against Manchester United.
But despite also scoring at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture and netting in the FA Cup against Rochdale, he slipped out of contention.
With one year left of his current deal, the 2021/22 season is vital for the youngster's career.
It's not lost on his representatives that he has missed out on a huge chunk of development in the last 12 months with others in the same age category playing much more than his 20 first-team appearances.
Longstaff was involved in 19 first-team squads last season but needs game-time.
On the professional circuit, there have been murmurs of possible loan moves to Celtic and Derby County, where he would play under Wayne Rooney, but nothing is concrete at this stage.
When asked about Longstaff last season, Bruce said in a Press conference: "He hasn't been away.
"Matty just hasn't found himself in the team, somebody so young, you remember he is still just 20."
Referring to Longstaff ending back up in the reserves, Bruce said: "It is important that we found some game-time for him to get under his belt.
"It was an opportunity for him to get 90 minutes which is never a bad thing but especially being so young."
Newcastle boss Bruce must also decide what happens next with Elliot Anderson.
The 18-year-old was wanted on loan by Luton Town last season but told to stay on after January but only made two appearances after featuring 10 first-team squads.
