'No fluke' - Newcastle United star features in Garth Crooks' Team of the Week

Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson has been included in BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks' Team of the Week after his incredible performance against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Wilson netted twice and found assists for Joelinton and Miguel Almiron to bring his season goal tally up to six and furthers his argument for a seat on the plane to the Qatar World Cup next month.

Writing in his Team of the Week column for BBC Sport, Crooks highlighted how before this season he might've seen Wilson in a different light but now recognises his talents.

"If you were in any doubt about Newcastle United's performance against Tottenham last week then you can rest assured it was no fluke after they absolutely destroyed Aston Villa at St James' Park.

"Callum Wilson scored in both games and appears to be the perfect fit for a team that is going places under Eddie Howe. This latest victory takes the Magpies into the top four and they have done it with the minimum of fuss - which rather reflects the character of their manager.

"I have never seen Wilson as a top-four striker but that is where his team are at the moment and I would not bet against them staying there on this form."

The other picks Crooks made saw Manchester City's Ederson in goal, with Manchester United's Diogo Dalot, Brentford's Ben Mee and Man City's Aymeric Laporte in defence. Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville, Man City's Kevin De Bruyne, and Arsenal's Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard make up the midfield while Man United's Marcus Rashford and Brighton's Leandro Trossard join Wilson up front in a 3-4-3 formation.
