No vaccine at government sites in Indore for 4 more days

INDORE: Indore district will witness another gap of four days in inoculation of first dose of Covid-19 vaccines at government centre without a single dose being administered for the first time in the mass drive.

The district will carry out vaccination of both doses with Covishield on July 19 and then on July 22 with a cumulative 48,000 doses. The last vaccination day was on July 14.

Immunisation in-charge Dr Tarun Gupta said, “There will not be vaccination on July 17 in the district. According to instructions from the state government the vaccination will be carried out on July 19 and 22.”

The dose allocation for both the day is 48,000 for administration of first and second dose. The vaccination will be carried out through online booking disallowing on-spot registration for these two days, added Dr Gupta.

The district has been struggling with shortage of vaccines for the last two weeks with infrequency causing an issue in inoculation of first and second dose to beneficiaries.

This is the first time in the last six months when the drive is completely shut for four days without inoculation of a single dose at government centres. Otherwise, at least second dose inoculation continued.

The district till date inoculated 27.67 lakh doses to beneficiaries aged above 18 with 5.15% being inoculated with second dose. The district has 28.07 lakh people aged above 18 years.

The district till date only fully immunised 18.34% in the last six months while around 80.22% took their first dose.
