The Arizona Cardinals will open the season on the road this season but will not be playing in front of road fans. When the Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 in Levi’s Stadium, it will be empty.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 49ers will not be able to have fans in attedance for home games, at least to start the season.
49ers will play their home opener Sept. 13 against the Arizona Cardinals without fans in attendance. 49ers will continue to work with State and County officials regarding the potential to welcome fans back to Levi’s Stadium later this season.

The Cardinals play their home opener in Week 2. Thus far, they have not announced whether or not fans will be able to attend.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the NFL all year. Teams could not bring players in to team facilities during free agency. The draft was held completely virtually. There were no OTAs or minicamps other than virtual meetings. The preseason was canceled. Training camp was altered.
Now fans will either be unable to attend games or there will be very limited capacity.
Perhaps at some point and in some stadiums, fans will be able to attend.
