'No falling out with Kasey Palmer' - Bristol City coach denies problem as Swansea City hover

Bristol City assistant head coach Jamie McAllister denies there is any conflict between head coach Lee Johnson and midfielder Kasey Palmer.

The former Robins left-back was speaking at the pre-Shrewsbury Town press conference and answered questions over an apparent rift between the summer signing and his head coach.

Bristol Live that Swansea City have stepped up their interest in the former Chelsea man, who has become disillusioned in BS3 according to our sources.

Palmer has not featured in any of the last three Bristol City games and has been singled out for criticism by Johnson over the past weeks behind the scenes, according to our sources. However, McAllister played down any talk of a serious disagreement.

"No, there’s been no falling out," said McAllister when asked by Bristol Live on Friday afternoon.

"Kasey’s a big part of this squad. He’s a top player.

"When you get opportunities you need to take them - we can only pick 18 players for each game. The 18 players selected for each game is the 18 that we feel is going to win the game.

"He might have missed out on the last one or two but there will be opportunities. He’s a big part of our group moving forward," said the Scotsman.

Asked how the club can return the former Huddersfield and Derby County player to his best form, McAllister gave little away.

He did however play down any talk of a move elsewhere.

"Every player has ways of getting the best out of them," said the ex-Robins defender of 186 appearances and three goals.

"We find the way to get the best out of every player - that's our jobs as coaches to make sure that everybody is at it.

"And obviously the player has a responsibility too, when they stop on the pitch to give their all and do the non-negotiables and make sure they bring out their USPs.

"We do everything we can for the players and make sure they're right for every game," he added.

When asked on Eddie Nketiah, McAllister declined to comment.
