No failed medical for Said Benrahma but West Ham racing to complete £30m deal

West Ham boss David Moyes says he remains hopeful of completing a late deal to sign Brentford winger Said Benrahma, confirming that the Algerian has not failed a medical.

The Hammers had agreed a deal worth an initial £25million, plus £5m in add-ons, with the Championship side but reports on Friday morning suggested the move had hit a snag.

Standard Sport understands there were some complications with the 24-year-old’s medical, but the Hammers are working hard to get a deal done by this afternoon’s 5pm deadline.

“He hasn’t failed his medical,” Moyes said. “And we are still hopeful that something can be done by later today but I just can’t guarantee that at this moment in time.

“Part of his medical is still ongoing. Talking about medicals is private, it is something that has to be done so I am not going to discuss that. All I will say is that we have still got hope that we can get it done today.”

Benrahma was a key part of the Brentford side that went so close to promotion last season, losing in the Championship play-off final to Fulham.

Even if Benrahma’s move is completed, he will not be eligible to face Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend, having missed the Friday noon deadline for registration.
