West Coast coach Adam Simpson insists there are no excuses for the Eagles' dramatic second-half capitulation to St Kilda.
The Eagles seemed to be cruising to their third victory of the AFL season on Saturday when they led by 33 points midway through the third term at Marvel Stadium.
But the Saints, spurred on by an embarrassing defeat to Essendon last week, returned to the form which took them to last year's semi-finals and piled on the last eight goals of the game to pull off a memorable 20-point victory.
The Eagles lost veteran defender Shannon Hurn to a calf injury in the first quarter, and were already without star midfielders Luke Shuey and Elliot Yeo.
"There's no excuses for today, not for the second half," Simpson said.
"Whether we're home or away, we just didn't play a brand that stood up under pressure.
"We had a five, six-goal lead halfway through the third so a lot of credit has to go to St Kilda.
"We just couldn't match the intensity. They were just more desperate than us."
West Coast are expecting Hurn to miss at least a week as they prepare to host Collingwood on Friday night.
Simpson was so filthy with the performance, he struggled to find any positives to take out of the round-four clash.
"We haven't got the glass half-full just yet, we'll work through that," he said.
"We're really disappointed. Brad Sheppard's 200th game; we had a nice lead that we worked really hard to get.
"The third quarter could have been even worse, we were 10 points up going into the last term but the momentum was there.
"Three-quarter-time was a great opportunity to reset and get back to business but we couldn't do it."
