'No excuses' - Barry Ferguson in 'no hiding' Rangers squad warning

Barry Ferguson has warned the Rangers squad they cannot hide behind Michael Beale as he demanded they start producing on the pitch.

The Ibrox squad had a huge turnover in the summer with Beale backed by the board in a £13million revamp of the playing staff.

However, that hasn't stopped a sticky start to the new season with pressure on Beale to start well in Europe after defeat to Celtic and Kilmarnock in the league already.

Rangers hero Ferguson reckons the time has come for the players to step up to the mark and deliver for Beale as he insisted they cannot hide behind the manager. And similarly, he warned they've had enough time to adapt to the Scottish game.

"I said it, there's got to be a collective responsibility," said Ferguson on the Go Radio Football Show.

"I get the manager signs the players and coaches them, picks the starting XI, but the players can't hide behind the manager. Once you cross that white line, It's on you to produce the goods.

"You can't play well all the time, I totally get that, but one thing is that if you are not playing well, you try and grind results out. As I said, there's no excuses now.

"They've been here long enough. They understand the expectations and demands of playing with Rangers and now need to start producing the goods on the pitch."
