HYDERABAD: Stating that in none of the three charge sheets filed by the CBI in the Hetero-Aurobindo part of the quid pro quo case, the probe agency could provide any semblance of evidence to show that AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had connived with his chief minister father or with the pharma entrepreneurs in 2006, said senior counsel T Niranjan Reddy.
He added that every witness cited by the very same CBI shows that Jagan has no role in the case. Niranjan Reddy argued before Justice Shameem Akther, when the latter took up the quash petitions filed by the Hetero group and its director, M Srinivas Reddy. He urged the court to nullify the 'baseless case filed by the CBI against them'.
Reading out the statement given by Sureedu, a key follower of YS Rajasekhar Reddy, the then chief minister of AP and father of Jagan, the senior counsel pointed out that this statement spoke about the frequent deliberations between YSR, his close friend KVP Ramachandra Rao, then auditor Vijay Sai Reddy, and one Sunil Reddy who is a relative of YSR family.
It also spoke about the meetings KVP had with several industrialists, businessmen, etc., before allowing them to meet the then chief minister YSR. Even the presence of Jagan, leave alone his role, was not there in any of these meetings, Niranjan Reddy said. Sureedu mentioned the frequent meetings Dubai-based businessman Koneru Rajendra Prasad, who was later made an accused in the Emaar scam case along with Sunil Reddy, had with KVP and YSR.
Penna Pratap Reddy, Ayodhya Rami Reddy, Parthasaradhi Reddy, Potluri Vara Prasad, M Srinivas Reddy, AK Dandamudi, etc businessmen used to meet YSR only after meeting KVP, Sureedu said in his statement. In a separate development, the judge extended the interim order issued earlier allowing Jagathi, Janani, and Indira Television companies to operate their bank accounts.
