No Erling Haaland decision made as Man City are told to move for standout young England star

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the best Manchester City stories you might have missed.

An update on Erling Haaland's plans for January shows City fans can still dream about the Norway superstar making a blockbuster summer move to Manchester.

A former Arsenal and England midfielder names a player Pep Guardiola should look to sign after getting a very good look at him over the weekend.

Finally, there is another City-Barca link concerning a player who is right up Pep's street.

All to play for when it comes to Haaland

It looks like Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland will keep everyone guessing in what is sure to be 2022's biggest transfer saga.

The 21-year-old has been linked with several European heavyweights, including his dad Alf-Inge's former club.

Transfers doyen Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Haaland's future and tweeted: “Erling Haaland is not leaving in January, despite some rumours.

“He has not decided his next club yet, and there are NO pre-agreements with Real or Barca. It's an open race. Decision won't be made in January.”

Our take: This shows that City could still very much be in the race to sign one of the hottest properties in world football.

The Premier League leaders have persevered without a specialist striker for a long while, but maybe it’s time and you know who would be the perfect candidate…

Parlour touts Saka for City

Speaking on TalkSport (via HITC), pundit and former Arsenal workhorse Ray Parlour nudged City to look at signing Bukayo Saka after the England star opened the scoring in Saturday's match between the sides at Emirates Stadium.

“Saka must be on people’s radar all day long," he said.

“Big sides like Manchester City must be looking and going, ‘He would be improving our side’.”

Saka has been a key part of Mikel Arteta’s revamp at Arsenal and impressed since his arrival on the big stage at Euro 2020.

Our take: It’s hard to see how any club would persuade Saka to move away from his boyhood club anytime soon. He'd almost certainly be a great signing but can you imagine Phil Foden leaving City if the fortunes of himself, Saka and their respective clubs were reversed?

City keeping tabs on Gavi

Barcelona are trying to tie down youngster Gavi to a new contract, with 18 months to run on his current deal. What makes the situation more pressing for Barca is the number of clubs apparently interested in the midfielder.

El Nacional reports that Chelsea, Liverpool and City are amongst the Premier League clubs who are keeping an eye on the 17-year-old Spain international.

But, the Catalan outlet also says, despite the above clubs being able to offer the player higher wages, he’s “in the right place at the right time” at Barca, who are building afresh under club great Xavi.

Our take: Regular readers will know to take El Nacional's missives with a grain of salt. Gavi is a player perfectly in tune with Guardiola and City's footballing vision, but let's not get too excited just yet.
