'No disrespect' - Newcastle United's Eddie Howe asked about previous manager's survival plan

Eddie Howe insists Newcastle United must move on from the previous management regime's ways at St James' Park.

Under Steve Bruce, the Magpies finished in 13th and 12th place during his two full seasons in charge on Tyneside but Howe took on the job with Newcastle engulfed in the relegation zone.

Howe has already vowed to play a more offensive style of football than the man he replaced but when asked if the overall approach had to change at Newcastle the incoming head coach did not shy away from talk of a complete reshuffle.

"Yeah, I think we have to. Whatever the word is, change certain things, because, and this is no disrespect to anybody else, what we have done this season hasn't worked to the point where we haven't got the wins we need," Howe said.

"So I will do it my way. That's what you try to do when you manage or coach, I can't copy anybody else or repeat what has happened before."

Howe's strong philosophy of repetitions in training and strong group sessions helped him make his name at Bournemouth.

Now he intends to do it again at Newcastle, he told talkSPORT: "I have got my own philosophy and I am very strong on that philosophy. I always have been and I have always protected the work we do.

"Because I believe it serves us best and it's what I know best. We will deliver the philosophy we have always done to try to get results here."
