No deaths recorded from coronavirus in West Lothian for first time since March

No deaths have been recorded in the latest round of figures of Covid-19 figures in the first time since in March.
The most recently released figures show the number of deaths reached 100 in the week to July 15 ( Week 28).

National Records of Scotland (NRS) figures released on Wednesday for the week to 22 July (Week 29) reveal no change in the West Lothian’s totals and only two Covid-19 related deaths in the wider Lothian NHS Trust area last week.

As at July 19, 4193 deaths have been registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
Between July 13 and 19, six deaths were registered that mentioned Covid-19 on the death certificate, representing the twelfth weekly reduction in a row and the lowest weekly total since the pandemic began.

Deaths involving Covid-19 accounted for less than one per cent of all deaths registered from 13 to 19 July, showing a significant decline from the peak in week 17, 20 to 26 April, when Covid-19 deaths accounted for 36 per cent of all deaths.

Pete Whitehouse, Director of Statistical Services, said:  “Today’s publication shows a continuing decline in the number of people dying from Covid-19. Since the peak week in mid-April, when 661 Covid-19 related deaths were registered, the number of these deaths has thankfully declined for twelve consecutive weeks, to six in the latest week.”
