No deaths in NSW as state's COVID cases jump again

NO deaths were recorded in NSW as COVID-19 cases grew by 271 cases in Thursday's update.

It is the second jump in daily numbers in as many days, with 20 more cases than recorded on Wednesday.

More than 81,000 tests were conducted in the 24-hour period to 8pm on Wednesday.

Vaccination rates remain steady, with 94.6 per cent of NSW residents 16 or over having received a first dose.

The second dose figure is close behind, with 92.6 per cent fully vaccinated.

Among 12 to 15 year olds first doses sit at 81.3 per cent, with 76.8 per cent double dosed.

Across the state 144 people are in hospital with COVID-19, with 24 requiring intensive care.

A full breakdown on Thursday's figures, including the number of cases in each public health district, is due about 11am.
