On Friday, Sports Illustrated concluded its list of the top 100 players in college football, and to the surprise of many, no Dawgs were included in the top 10.
Number one on the list was Clemson championship-winning quarterback Trevor Lawrence, followed by Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa.
It’s especially interesting to note the lack of Dawgs considering that UGA is a consensus top three-to-four team in the nation, and one would think that this kind of a team would have at least one top 10 player.
Many project quarterback Jake Fromm and offensive lineman Andrew Thomas to be two of the top picks in the top 2019 NFL Draft, and running back D’Andre Swift has already made his way into preseason Heisman rankings, so their exclusion from Sports Illustrated’s list is eyebrow-raising, to say the least.
