No country for buskers: Being a street performer in Delhi

Take a holiday and stroll through a major city abroad, and you’re likely to find yourself serenaded by street performers, set up on street corners and in subways.

In Delhi, and India too, this isn’t quite the case.

Earlier this month, actor Rajesh Tailang criticised the Delhi police for moving along a street performer playing a guitar in Connaught Place. Social media was divided, and the police insist that street performers block roadways and encourage pickpockets when crowds assemble – but how do buskers themselves feel?
