No coronavirus deaths recorded in Leeds after worrying spike recorded this week

No coronavirus deaths have been recorded at hospitals in Leeds over the past 24 hours.

During the pandemic, 298 people have died at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust hospitals after contracting the virus and eight of those deaths were recorded yesterday.

NHS England says another 121 people, including seven in Yorkshire, have lost their lives to the virus at hospitals in the country.

Five patients died in Doncaster, one died in Sheffield and another lost their life in Hull.

That means that 2,076 people have now died at Yorkshire hospitals after contracting the virus.

However, the daily number of hospital deaths recorded in Yorkshire appears to be falling steadily.

A month ago (on April 22) the death toll in the county jumped by 63 and a week ago (May 15) it increased by 13.

Figures released earlier this month show there have been 82 outbreaks at Leeds care homes since March and 151 care home residents have died.
