No coronavirus deaths recorded by Leeds hospitals for 16 days running

Hospitals in Leeds have not recorded any coronavirus deaths in 16 days.

However, there have been three coronavirus deaths recorded by hospital trusts in Yorkshire over the last day.

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust recorded one death in this time, while The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust recorded two.

This brings the total number of coronavirus deaths in Yorkshire hospitals to 2,568. The current coronavirus death toll in Leeds stands at 338.

In England, the NHS confirmed that a further nine people who had tested positive for the coronavirus have died.

Patients were aged between 73 and 92 years old and all but one, aged 75, had known underlying health conditions.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in English hospitals to 29,338.

It comes as parts of West Yorkshire have been placed on tighter lockdown restrictions, with Boris Johnson warning of a possible second wave in parts of Europe.

Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees are affected by the newly restricted lockdown rules, as are large parts of Greater Manchester - including Trafford and Stockport - and parts of Lancashire.
