A local court magistrate has chosen not to convict a Broken Hill nurse who was found to have taken a knife to the home of a man and tried to start a fight.
Trevor Craig Lasky was shaking as he was addressed by Magistrate Geoff Dunlevy at a sentencing hearing yesterday.
The 45-year-old registered nurse had been involved in a fight with another man, Steven Knott, at Lasky's neighbour's house in 2013.
The prosecution said Lasky went to Knott's house that evening armed with a 20-centimetre knife and started shouting outside, trying to start a fight.
Lasky denied the allegations and had pleaded not guilty.
Mr Dunlevy said Lasky only had a minor criminal history and accepted his behaviour was unusual because of the incident earlier that day.
He said convicting Lasky could result in him losing a steady job and instead placed him on a two-year good behaviour bond and recorded no conviction.
Editor's note (11/09/2019): Trevor Lasky denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty, rather than guilty, as stated in an earlier headline for this article.
