There have now been no confirmed coronavirus deaths in Scotland for a week

Speaking at her daily briefing today (15 July), First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that there have been no deaths of anyone confirmed through a test as having COVID-19 for a full week.

It comes as major changes to lockdown measures came into play today which includes the re-opening of Scotland's tourism industry, bars and restaurants and hairdressers.

National Register of Scotland data has also confirmed that this is the 11th week in a row that Scotland has had decreased deaths from the virus.

Under different measurements used by the National Records of Scotland, which also record deaths where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate, there have been 13 deaths linked to COVID this week.

However, the Scottish Government confirmed that there has been no new deaths in seven days of people confirmed to have the coronavirus through a test.

The Scottish Government death toll now sits at 2,490 for the seventh consecutive day in a row.
