His first time back in Pittsburgh since news broke of a sexual assault allegation against him, Pirates third baseman Jung Ho Kang was mum on the accusation.
"I'm just thinking baseball right now, and unfortunately, I can't comment on any matters of the investigation at this point," Kang told reporters via his translator, H.K. Kim, Friday afternoon in the Pirates clubhouse before their matchup with the Chicago Cubs.
While the Pirates were on the road in St. Louis facing the Cardinals, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday that Chicago police are investigating Kang after a 23-year-old woman claimed Kang sexually assaulted her last month in a Chicago hotel room.
Kang remains with the team as the investigation continues but is not in Friday's lineup.
"I'm just doing the same thing that I've been doing every day," he said. "It's the same grind, same process."
Kang also had no comment on how he expects fans here to receive him at the start of a pivotal series for the Pirates against the NL Central leaders before the All-Star break begins Monday.
"I'm just going to do my best for the team tonight," he said. "That's it."
