No charges laid over baby death in north Brisbane as homicide investigation continues

Queensland police say they are yet to lay charges in a homicide investigation into the death of a baby in north Brisbane yesterday.

The three-month-old girl died in Prince Charles Hospital after being found unresponsive at a home in Zillmere early Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to a disturbance at the home on Hanford Road.

Police said they were treating her death as suspicious and appealed for anyone with dashcam footage from along Hanford Road between 4:30am and 6:30am to come forward.

The home remains taped off as a crime scene and a major investigation centre has been established at Boondall Police Station.

Some people have created a small shrine of soft toys outside the home, with a note tied to a stuffed rabbit reading: "Sweet baby girl, may you rest in peace".

Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll yesterday said the investigation was trying to determine how the baby died.

"That will always be the case until we know what the cause of death was. That's obviously what we need to get first," she said.

"We have all our expert police out there looking at it at the moment, but I don't know exactly what the cause is … there's a lot more to do."
