No changes to Bucs-Washington wild-card game after Capitol violence

TAMPA, Fla. — The NFL has no plans to move the Bucs’ NFC wild-card game Saturday night at Washington after a violent mob stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Tampa Bay Times there are no changes to games scheduled for this weekend, and the league’s security for stadiums is “robust and comprehensive.”

The Bucs play at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., located about 10 miles from the District of Columbia.

“There are no changes to the status of this weekend’s NFL games,” McCarthy wrote in an email. “The safety of our fans, stadium personnel and the teams at all NFL games is our priority. We continue to be in communication with clubs hosting games to reinforce our standard procedures and the league’s best practices. The clubs will make any adjustments necessary.”
