'No chance' Newcastle United fans respond to Steve Bruce's decision on Callum Wilson

Newcastle United fans have been split by Steve Bruce's decision not to risk Callum Wilson against Chelsea.

The summer signing from Bournemouth limped out of their 2-0 defeat to Southampton a fortnight ago.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Bruce said: "Ryan won't make it, but Callum has a chance. If there is any risk whatsoever we won't.

"He has trained in the last two days so we will see. The boy wants to play.

"It's a bit like with Ryan and Jonjo is we have to make sure is 100 per cent right."

However, Bruce has opted against including Wilson in the matchday squad and makes four changes to the team beaten last time out.

Joelinton replaces him up front, with Javi Manquillo, Ciaran Clark and Isaac Hayden also coming in.

Here's how Newcastle fans responded to the absence of their top goal-scorer, with some pleased with Bruce's decision to not risk a further injury, whilst others are fearing the worst.

Bruce has also left Miguel Almiron out of the starting XI after his return from international duty was surrounded in controversy.

Early in the week, Almiron's representatives claimed their client wants to leave Newcastle, which resulted in a fiery response from Bruce.

The quotes were so outrageous, it was bordering on the ridiculous,” said Bruce.

“The agent proves to me he is an amateur looking to make a fast buck, which is pretty ridiculous.

"An agent who, two years in, is probably trying to profit again and take him somewhere else is just hugely disrespectful to all of us, and to this club, which has served Miguel so well, in particular.”

It remains to be seen if Almiron's absence is due to his agent's comments or a result of lots of travelling after being away with Paraguay.
