No casualties following car blaze at Irvine retail park

A fire which engulfed a black Audi at a North Ayrshire retail park at the weekend did not result in any casualties.

The blaze was reported on Sunday, June 6 at East Road Retail Park in Irvine while shocked shoppers looked on.

Police had no involvement with the incident but the the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed there were no reported casualties after the fire was extinguished.

The retail park is home to Aldi, Halfords and Dominos Pizza.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.30pm on Sunday, June 6 to reports of a car on fire at the East Road Retail Park, Irvine.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one car.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
