'No brainer' - Nottingham Forest fans want this Newcastle United transfer done

Nottingham Forest fans have been discussing Jack Colback and potentially bringing him back to the club.

The debate was prompted after Colback's Newcastle United team-mate Jonjo Shelvey revealed that the former Sunderland man actually moved to Nottingham when he signed on loan and commutes back to Newcastle for training.

That's despite Colback being nowhere near the first-team at St James' Park, the 30-year-old making a daily train trip back to his native north-east every morning.

Colback became a firm favourite at the City Ground, signing on loan in 2018 for the back end of 2017-18 before staying for a full season the following campaign.

He is out of contract in the summer but, with the player only dropping into the Championship on loan bar one campaign with Newcastle, will demand hefty wages.

However, Reds fans want to see him back at the City Ground and some think he could be an ideal replacement for 34-year-old Ben Watson if the former Reading man departs with his contract up at the end of the season.

One fan said: "Would still love him back. Was absolutely quality for us."

Another added: "If funds are available, then this transfer is a no brainier."

"If I’m honest I prefer Colback (to Alfa Semedo)" said a third.

"We missed him this year (would have been) excellent in Samba Sow's absence," said another.

"He's a very good player, could do with him," added a fifth.

"Get the boy back at Forest," said another Reds fan.

"Excellent replacement for Watson if he drops wages," another said.

"Get him back!" said an eighth.
