'No brainer' - Chelsea fans send Marina Granovskaia contract message amid Thiago Silva reports

Chelsea supporters have been reacting to the news that Thiago Silva is expected to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge.

Sky Sports are reporting that Silva is set to extend his one-year stay at the Blues after signing as a free agent from Paris Saint-Germain over the summer.

The experienced Brazilian centre-back was brought in to try and help Frank Lampard improve his defence ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

At 36 years old, the Blues' transfer policy meant they only handed him a one-year deal to see how he coped in his debut season in the Premier League.

Silva's performances so far for his new side have been impressive - and he has formed a solid partnership with Kurt Zouma in the centre of Chelsea's defence.

Lampard's side went on a five-game streak of keeping clean sheets, with Silva present in every single match - helping the side with his experience and leadership skills.

Blues supporters are pleased with the news that he could extend his stay in west London.

Chelsea legend Joe Cole has also been impressed with Silva since he's arrived at Stamford Bridge.

The former Blues and England winger even admitted that his performances for his old side have taken him by surprise.

"Unbelievable. Out of all the signings, when he came in, I knew he’s been one of the great defenders of our generation, but at 36 - you worry," Cole told BT Sport.

"Traditionally, players of that age coming into the Premier League, it’s very difficult.

"The Premier League is a different beast now.

"I don’t think they make centre-halves like him now, apart from van Dijk, he’s the best in the league, maybe there’s an argument for it.

"For Rudiger, Zouma, or Christensen next to him, he sets the standards.

"That’s the level you want to get at if you want to class yourself as a world-class centre-half."
