'No brainer' – Bristol Rovers fans' verdict on whether defensive stalwart Tony Craig should get new deal

Bristol Rovers fans have been having their say on whether stalwart defender Tony Craig should receive a new contract.

The 34-year-old, who has proven to be a superb signing for the Gas since joining from Millwall two years ago, has just a few months left on his deal at the Mem.

This week the centre-back discussed his future playing and coaching plans and the allure of home, with his wife and children living in London.

And both the club and the player will be mulling whether to extend their relationship with his contract up in June.

Dozens of Gasheads have taken to social media to have their say, with the majority hoping Craig is wearing the blue and white quarters beyond this summer.

Trevor Hays: "Certainly, I expect like a lot of clubs when players get over a certain age they give them a year contract each time and he has proved he is more than capable of more years. Been one of the standout players this season."

Richard Cottle: "Definitely, he’s doing his badges as well, would be a great asset - no brainier for me."

Mike Bright: "Should stay & be an example to the others who should take note of his desire to still play. It’s a shame other players don’t put the same effort in."

Scott Milton: "Reading what he said the other day I think his loyalties may lie in London with his family."

Daniel Macdonald: "Hard to say. If it was just down to his playing ability and leadership qualities, then the answer would obviously be yes. But how much money he wants and the length of deal that he wants, will have to come into consideration, as well."

Jennie Tote-Ender Jones: "He should stay, love his attitude, players respect him, should be captain."

Ian Smith: "Of course he deserves another contract fantastic player."

Alan Gregory: "We need his experience in defence to bring on the younger players."

Adam Lowry: "I don’t think he should be getting that much game time next season, Davies and Kilgour are both long term prospects should be focusing on building their partnership in my opinion."

Matt Iles: "Clearly deserves a new deal for me. Perfect to keep around the place. He will set a good example for the younger players and is a natural leader. But his place in team next season could be under threat but nonetheless a great backup to rely upon."

Darren Mason: "Nope maybe a position in coaching."

Rondo: "100% been one of our better performers."

Removable Cloud: "Yep. One more year then coaching."
