April 08--A South Chicago man is being held without bail after being charged with shooting three men in August.
Bernard Williams, 28, was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, one felony count of aggravated battery and one felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.
Police said Williams was identified as the man who fired shots from a vehicle around 2:55 p.m. on Aug. 3 in the South Chicago neighborhood on the South Side, the statement said.
The drive-by shooting happened in the 8600 block of South Colfax Avenue.
Three men were standing in front of a residence in the area when a small blue car passed and someone inside it fired shots, hitting the men, police said at the time.
The blue car fled the scene after the attack, police said.
A 32-year-old man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with gunshot wounds to the left leg, forearm, and lower back, according to the statement.
A 27-year-old man was shot in the torso and left arm and was also taken to Christ hospital where he was listed in good condition.
A 33-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was listed in good condition, according to the statement.
Williams, of the 8500 block South Marquette Avenue, is scheduled to appear in court next on April 9.
