'No better partnership' Gareth Bale's glowing plaudits on Jose Mourinho upon Tottenham arrival

Gareth Bale is seemingly looking forward to working under "serial winner" Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale is on the brink of completing a sensational return to the club he left for a record fee back in 2013, and is set to work under a manager who has always admired his undoubted abilities.

Mourinho has declined to comment on the deal, but has admitted he once tried to sign Bale when he was Real Madrid boss, before trying again when he was at Manchester United.

It's clear Mourinho is a big fan of the Welshman and, judging by previous comments, the feeling is mutual.

Shortly after Mourinho was confirmed as Spurs boss, Bale said: "Having Mourinho there is an amazing statement from the club, I think he's a serial winner.

"Tottenham want to win trophies and I don't think there's a better partnership than Mourinho and Tottenham together to try and win some trophies."

Spurs fans will be hoping that after trading complements, the pair can now form a positive working relationship at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Bale likely to be keen on a fresh start after being frozen out by Real boss Zinedine Zidane.

Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett says the pair have already spoken about the move back to North London, a move which could be the first step in a positive new chapter for the 31-year old.

Barnett said: "Gareth has spoken to Jose and explained how Spurs have a special place in his heart."
