No bail for Katoomba stand-off accused

A man has been charged over a four hour stand-off with police in the NSW Blue Mountains. (AAP)

A NSW man has been refused bail on domestic violence and assault charges after a four-hour stand-off that saw police swarm a Blue Mountains street.

The incident occurred at a house on Lurline Street in Katoomba about 10am on Tuesday. Police allege a woman at the property was threatened by Scott William Rennie, a man known to her, before she fled the home.

Officers were then required to negotiate Rennie's exit from the home as he was allegedly armed with a hatchet.

The 44-year-old was arrested about 1.50pm and taken to Katoomba Police Station, where he was charged with detaining another person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking and assaulting police.

Rennie appeared before Penrith Local Court on Wednesday where his application for bail was rejected by magistrate Anthony Spence.

He'll return to the same court on March 26.

An interim apprehended violence order was also established by the court, preventing Rennie from contacting the woman.
