A new no appointment, no referral drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic is set to open on Thursday at Warners Bay.
The drive through clinic is being run by Newcastle business Medtech Services which has partnered with 4Cyte Pathology.
It follows their opening of a referral-based drive-through service at Wallsend.
Medtech services spokesperson Nick Burns said the new clinic was organised after discussions with Hunter New England Health about diverting COVID-19 testing away from hospitals.
He said it would also rule out the virus in patients with symptoms, who could then see a doctor for further diagnosis.
Mr Burns said despite the no-booking system, the service was confident it will cope with demand based on testing data it had collected since March.
The three-lane clinic at Central Church, 290 Hillsborough Road is open 8am-4pm weekdays and 8-11am Saturday. It will run until at least October.
