No ACT close contacts linked to Qld hotel UK-variant cases

Queensland Health has advised there are no close contacts from the ACT who are associated with outbreak at Hotel Grand Chancellor in Brisbane

However ACT Health advises people who have recently returned from Greater Brisbane to stay alert and get tested if symptoms of COVID-19 arise.

Queensland Health issued an alert on Wednesday urging anyone who had been at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Brisbane to get tested and isolate for 14 days.

The hotel is linked to six cases of the new UK COVID-19 strain.

Recent returnees from Queensland are urged to keep up to date though the website daily.

If someone is identified as a close contact by Queensland Health or if they have recently been to a location named by contact traces, they must follow Queensland Health's advice and contact ACT Health immediately on (02) 6207 7244.

Meanwhile travel restrictions on 11 COVID-19 affected local government areas in Sydney are still in place until at least January 19. Those areas are:

  • Northern Beaches
  • Blacktown City
  • Burwood
  • Canada Bay City
  • Canterbury-Bankstown
  • Cumberland
  • Fairfield City
  • Inner West
  • Liverpool City
  • Paramatta City
  • Strathfield Municipality

ACT residents in those local government areas can return to the territory but must notify ACT Health by completing an online declaration form .

After arriving in the ACT they must quarantine for 14 days.

Non-ACT residents in those areas are not allowed to enter ACT unless they receive an exemption.

Canberrans are urged to not travel to COVID-19 affected areas of NSW.
