No. 18 Texas Tech throttles WVU

LUBBOCK, Texas–Brandone Francis came off the bench and scored 16 points as No. 18 Texas Tech thumped West Virginia 81-50 on Monday night.

The Mountaineers (10-13, 2-8 Big 12) made just nine field goals, matching  NC State’s total in a 47-24 loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday for the lowest field goal production by a Division I team in any game this season.

Jarrett Culver tallied 12 points. Davide Moretti had 11 points and Deshawn Corprew added 10 for the Red Raiders (18-5, 6-4).

Derek Culver carried WVU with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

In the first half, the Mountaineers went a span of 14:56 without a field goal.

WVU turned the ball over 26 times. Texas Tech capitalized by scoring 31 points off the Mountaineers’ miscues.

The Red Raiders out rebounded WVU 36-29.

Logan Routt was ejected in the second half for tripping Texas Tech’s Matt Mooney.

The Mountaineers shot an abysmal 23 percent from the floor, made 3-of-16 from beyond the arc and shot 71 percent from the charity stripe.

The Red Raiders shot 53 percent from the field and 36 percent from 3-point range.

WVU returns home to take on Texas on Saturday night at 8 p.m. (ET).
