No. 11 Miami remains undefeated after defeating Florida A&M, 90-59

CORAL GABLES, Fla. _ They remain undefeated _ but still untested.

The 11th-ranked University of Miami men's basketball team won its third game in a week Thursday night, 90-59 over Florida A&M. It was another relatively easy game for UM, which is 30-2 at the Watsco Center over the past three seasons.

The most significant news of the night happened shortly before halftime, when freshman guard Lonnie Walker IV landed wrong on his left ankle after taking a 3-point shot. He was helped off the court, hobbled to the locker room and never returned to the game.

Otherwise, the night went as expected.

Miami dominated from the start, racing out to a 31-13 lead following a 10-0 run. By halftime, the gap had widened to 46-22, and the Canes led by 30 midway through the second half.

Six UM players finished in double figures. Sophomore Bruce Brown _ already nominated for several national watch lists _ finished the night with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. DJ Vasiljevic and Ja'Quan Newton also had 15 apiece.

Freshman guard Chris Lykes came off the bench and added 13 points, including three three-pointers. Anthony Lawrence had 11, and Dewan Huell chipped in 10.

UM shot 58.6 percent from the field and held FAMU to 40.6 percent shooting. Miami was 12-of-26 from three-point range but struggled at the free-throw line _ 10-of-22 (45.5 percent).

The Hurricanes improved to 3-0. The Rattlers dropped to 0-3.
