KNOXVILLE, Tenn. _ The Third Saturday in October still belongs to Alabama.
The No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide jumped on No. 9 Tennessee and never let up Saturday, rolling to a 49-10 victory before a sold-out Neyland Stadium crowd of 102,455.
Alabama (7-0, 4-0 SEC) ran its string of wins over the Vols to 10 years.
Tennessee (5-2, 2-2) has an open date to heal a number of injuries before playing at South Carolina on Oct. 29.
Alabama freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts ran for three scores against a makeshift Tennessee defense riddled by injuries.
The Tide also scored on an interception return and a punt return.
Alvin Kamara, who had a breakout game last week at Texas A&M, scored Tennessee's only touchdown _ following a sack/fumble that gave the offense a short field.
Tennessee's defense eventually caved in but at least saved the Vols from total domination in the first half.
The Vols trailed, 14-0, when Derek Barnett sacked Hurts, causing a fumble. Quay Picou recovered at the Alabama 11. Kamara ran for four yards, then seven more for the touchdown.
The Tide was up, 21-7, and driving deep into Tennessee territory when Barnett struck again. With Alabama at the UT 12, Shy Tuttle rushed Hurts, batted an attempted pass into the air and Barnett grabbed it for the interception.
The rest of the half was all Crimson Tide.
Alabama struck first with a 29-yard run by ArDarius Stewart on a reverse. Late in the first quarter, the Tide kept its streak of games with defensive scores alive. Ronnie Harrison returned an interception 58 yards to put Alabama up, 14-0.
Following Tennessee's score, Hurts ran 45 yards for a touchdown to make it 21-7.
Hurts added a couple of short scoring runs in the third quarter. Eddie Jackson took a punt return 79 yards for a score, and Bo Scarbrough ran 85 yards for another.
