Nnamdi Ofoborh signs Rangers pre-contract as Bournemouth star set for Ibrox summer transfer

Rangers have snapped up Bournemouth midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh on a pre-contract deal.

He will spend the remainder of the season on-loan at Wycombe Wanderers before linking up with Steven Gerrard in the summer.

Ofoborh will follow Cherries team-mate Jack Simpson to Glasgow after he too penned a deal with the Premiership leaders.

A Rangers statement said: "Rangers Football Club are this morning delighted to announce the pre contract signing of Nnamdi Ofoborh from AFC Bournemouth on a four-year deal which will begin in the summer."

Ofoborh's loan return to Wycombe was confirmed on Monday.

He enjoyed a successful stint under Gareth Ainsworth last season, playing a key role as Wanderers reached the Championship for the first time in their history.

Sporting director Ross Wilson said: "We look forward to welcoming Nnamdi to our group in the summer. We are extremely impressed by his qualities and he is a player that has real progression in him.

“He has a positive and determined personality and is very much looking forward to becoming a Rangers player at the end of this season.

“In the meantime we are really pleased that Nnamdi will play week in week out until the end of the season in the Championship at Wycombe, a club he excelled at previously under Gareth Ainsworth."

In addition to the Bournemouth duo, Rangers have also agreed a deal to bring Scott Wright to Ibrox this month.

Like Ofoborh and Simpson, he'd agreed a pre-contract but Gerrard was keen for an immediate move to be thrashed out.

Rangers have agreed to pay Aberdeen with Ross McCrorie's move to Pittodrie becoming permanent now as opposed to the summer.
