Nnamdi Ofoborh reveals Rangers transfer shock as Ibrox new boy shares 'Boyd and Miller' inspiration

Nnamdi Ofoborh admits he was in shock when his agent told him Rangers were interested - and went into training every day dreaming of signing for the Ibrox club.

The midfielder will move to Ibrox in the summer after signing a four-year deal on a pre-contract and he's spending the rest of this season on loan at Wycombe from Bournemouth.

He's desperate to get up to Scotland and hopes Rangers can seal the title so he has Champions League football to look forward to when he does arrive.

And he's also revealed he regularly watched Old Firm games growing up when Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller were leading the line for the Ibrox men.

He told the Sunday Mail: “My agent spoke to me a while back and said he’d been talking to a few different clubs.

“I was expecting a few English Championship clubs to show an interest or League One sides.

“I wasn’t expecting too much because I haven’t played a lot for Bournemouth this season.

“So he mentioned a few names, some of them abroad. But when he said Rangers, I just smiled at him.

“I thought: ‘That can’t be serious, not Rangers.’

“Even then I thought there can be a lot of talk in football without anything actually happening.

“But the thought of moving to Rangers was going through my mind every day at training.

“I’m buzzing. It’s still a bit surreal to me that I’m actually joining a club like that.

“I just can’t wait to get up there, get started and do what I need to do.”

Many in the English game might look down on the league up here but Ofoborh has revealed he used to watch Scottish football regularly growing up.

And it was Boyd and Miller he'd look up to when they were banging in goals for Rangers under Walter Smith.

He added: “I know all about Rangers. I grew up watching any game of football I could get my hands on.

“I just love football, it’s always been my thing. If I’m not playing it, I’m watching it.

“I remember watching the Old Firm matches.

“I used to watch Miller and Boyd scoring for Rangers all the time and doing well for the club.

“I’d even go into the vault and watch games from back in the day. It’s amazing now to be joining such a prestigious club

“I’ve spoken to a lot of people about the fans up there, not just in the Old Firm game but in general.

“It’s a sell-out crowd and to play in front of 50,000 supporters will be incredible for me.

“Just to go up there, play for that club and pull on that shirt, will be unbelievable.

“I’m joining one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s crazy.”
